Kuwait condemns violence and terrorism in Algeria
Algeria, Religion, 10/18/1997
More than 70 Islamic Scholars and Judges issued a statement in Kuwait in which they said that the violent acts in Algeria have nothing to do with Islam. They called on all Algerian sides to stand together against violence which has become a real threat to Algerian existence and unity.
The scholars who attended the meetings of the International Charity Organization that was held in Kuwait said that neither patriotism nor Islam would approve of the terrorist activities that are going on in Algeria.
They expressed their sorrow that some of the criminal groups in Algeria are being used in order to defame Islam to make the role of Islam a marginal one in the Arab and international communities.
The scholars called on all the Islamic writers, intellectuals, and movements to fight the monster of violence which has nothing to do with Islam. They stressed the need for an increased Islamic awareness to protect the religious renaissance which is being experienced by the Islamic world at the present time.
