African training courses for earthquake in Cairo

Egypt's Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Dr. Mufid Shinab opened yesterday the international training course on African earthquake monitoring, which will run until November 19. The course is organized by the National Astronomical and Geophysical Research Institution, in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Participants in the course will receive lectures and practical training at hands of Egyptian, Japanese and European professors and experts, on the operation and maintenance of earthquake monitoring stations. The Egyptian institution had previously provided similar courses to 530 Arab and African people.
Senior scientific research officials in Egypt, the Japanese ambassador to Egypt, representatives of JICA, many specialists and participants from ten African states are taking part Al Ahrar daily said today October 18.
