Food poisioning cases on the rise in Palestinian Authority
Palestine, Business, 10/16/1997
A recent report released by the Palestinian Consumer Protection Association said that since the start of this year, there have been 4,233 cases of food poisoning that had been monitored by the Palestinian health authorities.
The report noted the high increase in cases of food poisoning saying that last year only 1, 886 cases were monitored. The association called on the Palestinian authorities to take tough measures against people involved in importing and marketing poisoned foods or foods whose dates had expired.
In the past, Palestinians had complained that a number of Israeli companies and individuals were involved in marketing poisoned foods in the PNA areas. A number of Palestinian dealers had been arrested and even sentenced by Palestinian courts for their involvement.
