Workers break their strike to repair lines destroyed by Israel
Lebanon, Business, 10/16/1997
Workers of the Electricity Company of Lebanon continued their open strike for the second day, leaving some areas, needing repair, completely in the dark.
Representatives from the workers union, presided by Emeel Jeha, met today with the company's chairman Joseph Hawa. They were granted some promises that were described as "positive" in their negotiations.
The workers, however, broke the strike to repair the high tension lines destroyed by the clashes with Israel in Nabatieh. The move came to affirm their support to the people in the South and show that the strike is a peaceful one.
