Qatari-French maneuvers

Qatari-French maneuvers will be held on 20 October. 50 French navy commandos arrived in Qatar and will stay for 6 weeks.
A Qatari source informed ArabicNews.com that 3 French warships will participate in the maneuvers: the command and logistics ship La Somme, on board of which will be Admiral Du Lasalle Farma, coming from the Indian Ocean; Jual Vern, which is specialized in armament operations; and the anti submarine ship Godovianne.
The source added that the commando group that arrived in Doha is highly trained. Its members are experts in using parachutes, and also qualified to participate in daily and nightly combats and to use various types of weapons within their work in oceans.
The commando group known as "Triple" visited Qatar in 1996 and an infantry group from Djibouti consisting of 150 members was present in Doha for two months in 1997.
