Libya-Egypt power link next year

Experimental operation of the power grid linking Libya and Egypt will start at the beginning of 1998, said Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Mahr Abaza yesterday.
Following a meeting with his Libyan counterpart, Abdullah El Badri, Abaza said that official operation of the joint power line will take place on March 28, marking the celebration of the pullout of western troops from Libya.
Abaza and the Libyan official discussed means of boosting cooperation between power transformer stations in Libya, Al Wafd daily said today.
