Two SLA members killed
Lebanon, Military, 10/13/1997
Two members of the South Lebanon Army were killed on Saturday near Jezzine, when a bomb planted by the Hizbullah resistance exploded at 2 p.m.
A roadside bomb was detonated near a SLA patrol heading toward the outpost of Toumat Niha in Jezzine, an area officially outside Israel's south Lebanon occupation zone, but under control of the Israeli-allied local militia.
Also on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi assured, during his meeting with Hizbullah's secretary general Hassan Nasrallah in Teheran, that Iran will continue to support the resistance in South Lebanon, describing it as a legal right. The Iranian foreign minister stressed on the need to reinforce the Islamic and national resistance in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Israeli troops kidnapped six young men from the towns of Erton and Bint Jubeil inside the occupied strip of South Lebanon. The follow-up committee for supporting Lebanese prisoners in Israeli jails said the Israelis had jailed the six young men in Khiam prison.
The committee noted there are students who are not over the age of 15 among them, which contradicts international principles and norms. The committee demanded the Lebanese government to file a complaint with UNESCO.
The committee presented a memo, containing the names of ten young men who are under 16 to Arab and international organizations calling on them to work for the release of all prisoners in Israeli jails.
