Kalash's new book Birds and Bars
Lebanon, Literature, 10/11/1997
Lebanese writer Ghada Ali Kalash has had her new reflections published in Beirut, where she floats in a world of meditation and dreams that involve both man and the universe.
In the collection "Birds and Bars," Ghada Kalash kneels down before the vastness of the world, meditating on her minuteness in comparison to the harmonic entities of the universe.
Her dream plunges us into the sea to glimpse rows of trees being planted there that stretch to the sky. Moon and sun both present epochs of constant changes, so much so that whenever and wherever you turn your eyes, you would find stolen memories here and there.
These emotional reflections welling from philosophical thoughts exude identification with life and eternity. The author is true to herself and to her surroundings.
Kalash says about the composition of her new collection, that aura and landscape of far away hills and mounds were behind her work. But she sometimes wonders which is the best, the flock of birds or the pupils of the eyes.
This wondering reaffirms the intellectual impressionism that could contribute to mediation. Therefore which is more beautiful than the other: The sweet bird or the eye which has seen it ?
