More power and desalinated water comming to Qatar

Qatar is planning to launch two major projects to generate 700MW of electricity and 70m gallons per day MGPD of desalinated water to meet the increasing demand in the coming years.
Qatar News Agency reported that the Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Electricity and Water said the projects will be located at the Ras Abu Fontas station for power generation and water desalination. He he said that the Minister of Electricity and Water Ahmed Mohamed Ali Al Subaie, signed on Sunday a QR 20.8 contract with two companies to provide among other things engineering consultancy services.
Three gas turbines for generating electricity have been installed at the Ras Abu Fotas station with a capacity of 366 MW, and five filters have been installed at the station to produce 33 MGPD.
