Students call for the formation of a public body

Students at Birzeit University, 10 kilometers east of Ramallah on the West Bank, ended a week of solidarity with Palestinian prisoners in Israel jails with a call on Israel to honor its commitments in the interim agreements singed with the PLO and to release all Palestinian prisoners behind Israeli bars.
In the final day of the week, a recorded message from freed Hamas leader and founder Sheikh Yassin was heard on megaphones. He called for the release of those prisoners "so they would come out and take part in building the foundations of their country." The student council called for the formation of a public body, comprised of labor and trade unions and prominent figures among the Palestinians, to follow up the case of Palestinian prisoners in Israel.
