Mossad agents' release raises legal problems
Jordan, Judicial, 10/9/1997
The Jordanian legal system faces in these days a major legal problem following the release of the two Israeli Mossad agents who tried to assassinate Hamas political leader Khaled Mishal in Amman two weeks ago.
Legal experts in Jordan said the problem stems from the fact that a criminal file has already been opened against the two Mossad agents and now there is no way to pursue the complaint due to the fact that both agents have been released and returned to Israel.
Lawyers in Jordan, meanwhile, called on King Hussein to issue a special clemency that would release Ahmad Daqamseh from prison. Daqamseh is currently serving a life imprisonment sentence after he opened fire and killed seven Israeli girls near the borders with Israel seven months ago. In his trial, Daqamseh told the court he had to shoot the girls because they made fun of him while praying.
