In Kuwait illegal residents not sent to Talha
Kuwait, Politics, 10/8/1997
The Kuwaiti Interior Ministry has stopped referring residence violators to the Talha deportation center, and has commenced new measures in coordination with the five security directorates, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and other concerned security authorities.
Al Qabass newspaper quoted security sources as saying that the ministry has begun taking new measures towards residence violators to organize procedures on how to deal with violators caught by security patrols.
The new measures mainly emphasize the role performed by the five immigration departments to receive residence violators, who are referred to them by other security authorities. The immigration departments will take the legal measures needed to settle the affairs of individuals caught.
The new ministry policy aims at centralizing the responsibility for these measures in one department instead of several.
The interior minister, minister of social affairs and labor, and assistant under-secretary for labor affairs held a joint meeting which was attended by a number of senior officials from both ministries to discuss ways of eliminating residence violations and catch the violators.
