GCC Justice ministers begin meeting

GCC justice ministers began their ninth meeting in Doha under the chairmanship of Qatari Minister of Electricity and Water Ahmed Mohamed Ali al-Subai, who is also acting minister of justice.

In his opening address, al-Subai stressed the importance of the meeting in consolidating ties, coordinating steps and enhancing cooperation among GCC states in all fields and in the justice and law fields in particular "to achieve a unified legal and judicial system."

The meeting will discuss a number of issues, including unified civil draft law, criminal draft law, enhancing cooperation in the justice field and recommendations made by GCC justice undersecretaries regarding issues on the agenda, he said.

"Cooperation in judicial and legal domains represents an important aspect of the GCC countries" joint action and comes in implementation of the GCC statutes, al-Subai said.
