Israeli artillery shells Lebanese areas - Lahd forces attacked
Lebanon, Military, 10/8/1997

Israeli occupation forces shelled on October 7 the hills of al Tuffah district areas from their positions in the occupied strip of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said the occupation artillery bombarded the woods of Sajad al Rihan, al Rafi Mountain, the Green Valley and Litani river bed.

The shelling was accompanied by heavy machine-gun fire, targeting the mountainous roads which link the Al Tuffah district to the occupied strip in the South.

The sources stated out that the Israeli war planes carried out fake raids at a low altitude over Al Nabatieh and Al Tuffah districts.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese resistance attacked on the same day the position of Lahd's militia in Tomat Niha in the eastern sector of south Lebanon. In its statement, the resistance said it used machine-gun fire and rocket bombs in its attack, and a number of soldiers were wounded.

Other reports said the Lebanese national resistance called the committee in charge of monitoring the implementation of the April Understanding for halting Israeli practices aimed at displacing the citizens of the South villages.

Sheikh Nabil Kawok, who is in charge of Hizbullah in the South, said Israeli detention campaigns against the citizens of Arnon town are violating April Understanding principles.
