Saudi Prince Abdul Aziz bin Ahmed, president of the Saudi Ophthalmology Society, signed a protocol for cooperation in Sana'a on October 7 with the Yemeni Health Ministry and the World Health Organization to provide technical and training services for fighting cataracts.

The protocol, which was also signed by Yemeni Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Bashir and WHO's Middle East director Dr. Hussein al Hazaeiri, is aimed at reducing cataract cases in Yemen and carrying out operations on patients affected by the disease.

The protocol stipulates that 100 cataract operations should be carried out every month. The agreement also provided for the training of Yemeni doctors in performing cataract operations.

Prince Abdul Aziz attended the graduation of 12 Yemeni doctors who had attended a diploma course in treating eye diseases and performing eye operations.
