Libya confirms its search for Al Kekhya
Libya, Politics, 10/3/1997

New attempts are underway to unravel the mystery of the disappearance of former Libyan Foreign Minister Mansour Al Kekhya who disappeared from a hotel in Cairo in 1993 during his participation in a conference.

Al Kekhya's wife Baha'a Al Amry met with the secretary-general of the People's Committee for Public Security (Minister of Interior) Mohammed Al Hegazy and the secretary-general of the Justice Committee (Minister of Justice) Mohammed Al Zawy and informed them of her rejection of the report issued by the US Central Intelligence Agency which was published by the Washington Post. The report implicated Egyptian involvement in Al Kekhya's kidnapping and handing him over to the Libyan authorities.

Libyan sources mentioned that Al Kekhya's wife met with Libyan security officials who informed her that the US report is incorrect and that it is misleading as the USA will not be as interested in this matter as Libya, Al Kekhya is a Libyan not a US citizen. The officials confirmed that they will continue their efforts to disclose the mystery of his disappearance.
