GCC justice ministers to work on unified criminal code

GCC justice ministers will hold their ninth meeting next Tuesday in Doha, Qatar. The two-day meeting will comprise official ministerial delegations from all GCC states (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar) and will deal with various judicial and legal issues.

One of the most important points on the agenda of this meeting is a draft to unified criminal law and discussions of alternatives to imprisonment punishment. The officials attending the meeting will also discuss proposals made by Oman, Kuwait and Qatar on means of enhancing cooperation among GCC countries in legal and judicial domains.

Other issues such as training in judicial fields and memorandum by GCC Secretariat General on employment and transnational movement of workers will also be discussed.
