Israel newspaper threatens launch of nuclear war against Syria
Syria-Israel, Military, 9/30/1997
The Israeli newspaper Yedaoun Ahronote quoted Israeli officials as saying that it would be necessary to launch a nuclear strike against Syria in order to counter an expected Syrian offensive in which chemical weapons will be used.
The newspaper reported that photos taken by intelligence satellites were analyzed by US experts who confirmed that Syria installed Scud B missile pads 25 km away from the city of Homs. The newspaper claimed that the geographical position of the city makes it easy for the 6000 km range missiles to hit any place in Israel.
In recent days other Israeli papers have talked of the possibility of using "military options" to free Azam Azam, the Israeli spy cought and convicted in Egypt.
