Asian countries receive 26% of Tunisian exports

Tunisian Trade Minister Monzer Al Zananedi declared that Asian countries receive 26% of Tunisian exports. He added that the volume of Tunisian exports has tripled in the past ten years. He asserted that the policy of approaching the Asian countries gave its results as the rate of exports to these countries increased during the first 6 month by about 26%.

The total volume of Tunisian exports reached $3.8 billion compared to $2.7 billion during the same period last year last year, which means that the exports increased by 12%.

Al Zananedi pointed out that the increase in the volume of imports was caused by the increasing needs of the transportation means, electric supplies, and the weaving industry, while the increase in exports was caused by growth of the exports of electric and mechanical supplies, the canned food and the other food items especially oil, whose volume increased to 51 tons.

The Tunisian exports of energy increased in the first half of the year from 1.2 million tons valued at $260 million compared to 1.7 million tons valued at $235 million in the same period last year.
