Electrical link between Egypt, Syria and Turkey

The Egyptian Electricity and Energy Minister Dr. Maher Abaza confirmed that the month of December will witness the operation of the electric line connecting Egypt and Jordan and which will transfer the power through the Electric Connection Network between Middle East and east African countries which include Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Turkey and the Unified Eastern European network.
The Egyptian Minister mentioned that the cost of the project of electric connection between Egypt and Jordan is $250 million, financed by the Arab Social and Economic Development Fund. The 13 km long and 850 meter deep maritime double circuit cable passing through the Aqaba Gulf that will connect the two networks is being installed now at a cost of $1 million.
Dr. Abaza stated that the two countries are studying providing the electric supplies and equipment for the project from the local Arab market. He added that the Egyptian side will offer technical training to the Jordanian engineers and technicians in the Electricity Authority Centers in order to prepare the technical staff in the field of operating and maintaining the power generation stations and the transferring and distributing lines.
