Syria annuls previous decree that limited personal export of goods.
Syria, Economics, 9/25/1997
Diplomatic sources mentioned that the Syrian Minster of Economy and Trade Mohammed Al Amawy has issued a decree allowing those departing Syria to take with them unlimited amounts of many Syrian products, which means annulling a previous decree that limited the amount of Syrian products taken by those departing Syria at 300,000 Syrian Lira ($6,000).
Decree No. 1041 which was recently ratified by the minister was issued in mid-August. It provides that those departing Syria are allowed to take any quantity of Syrian-made products without signing a pledge to bring them back, without limiting the quantity or value of these products, without making customs statement whether these products were taken for the purpose of trade or not.
The minister requested the customs offices and border check points to apply this decree. The decree does not include some items like animals, wheat, petrol oil, furniture, gold.
