Algeria to hand over 21 Tunisians traveling to France with fake passports
Algeria, Local, 9/25/1997
The coast guard at the Sakakida Algerian port (50 km east of the capital) arrested 21 Tunisians who were traveling to France via Algeria with fake passports.
After the concerned authorities checked the passports they found out that they were forged in Tunisia. The arrested travelers were between 28 and 64 years old and were living in the border areas between Algeria and Tunisia near Gardima. The arrested travelers were on board the Algerian ship "Tiaberiza" heading to the French port of Marseilles.
The accused travelers were interrogated by the Algerian authorities and a ruling was issued to send them out of the Algerian borders and to hand them over to the Tunisian authorities.
Meanwhile a diplomatic source in Algeria mentioned that six Islamic militants were killed by the security forces in the areas of Weld Maimoun and Ain Talout near Telmesan (in the West) after they killed three civilians near a sham security barrier.
The source added that a terrorist group attacked the village of Tafsara but they had to run away after the people informed the security forces.
