An Egyptian Arts Festival in Tunisia

An Egyptian Arts Festival will be held in the Tunisian capital, Tunis, during the month of November, which will last for ten days. The festival will include various activities such as exhibitions of graphic works, sculpture, photography, and painting. It will also include an exhibition of Egyptian traditional crafts, and shows of the Egyptian musical bands, the Opera House Children Choir, and the National Band for Folkloric Arts.

A meeting will also be held between the Egyptian and Tunisian poets and novelists. A week will be devoted in the Tunisian cinemas to Egyptian feature films in which "Al Qobtan ("The Commander"), "Al Masir" (Le Destine"), "Afariet El Asfalt" ("Devils of Asfalt"), "Ziyaret Al Sayed Al Raeys" ("Visit of His Excellency the President"), "Ard Al Ahlam" ("Land of Dream"), "Ya Donya Ya Garamy" ("My Beloved World"), and other short feature films like "Ziyraet Al Ahad Al Ady" ("Normal Sunday Visit"), "Teri Ya Tayara" ("Flying Plane"), "Akher Al Nahar" ("End of Day"), "Marthyt Hamam Al Beshry" ("Hamam Al Beshry's Elegy"), and "Al Kaslan" ("The Lazy").

Egypt will also participate in the Mediterranean Biannual held in Tunisia between October 10 to 13. Artist George Al Bahgoury and Reem Hassan will also participate in this biennial which is held to celebrate UNESCO's selection of Tunisia as the cultural capital of the Arab nation and the South Mediterranean.

According to the cultural cooperation protocol signed between Tunisia and Egypt, the Tunisian Cultural and Arts Festival will be held in March 1998, on the Tunisian Independence Day. The festival will include film shows of Tunisian films like "Al Sayeda" ("Le Dame"), "Saif Halq Al Wadi" ("Summer in Halq Al Wadi"), and "Bent Famililia - ("Madmoseile De Famille"). It will include many theatrical shows like "Kalam El Leil" ("Night Talk") in addition to the folkloric shows, the Female Musical Band, a traditional crafts exhibition, and a book fair.
