Tunisia plans to increase citrus crop

Tunisia is trying to increase the local citrus crop in the upcoming years. It is expected that the crop will increase from 244 thousand tons to 300 thousand tons by the year 2000 and 375 thousand tons by the year 2010.
Tunisia exports 125 thousand tons of citrus to Europe, the Middle East and Gulf countries. Tunisia's revenue from exporting citrus is $10 million a year. The efforts aim at increase the volume of exports to 150 thousand tons a year.
