Kuwaiti, Saudi border demarcation resolution reaches final stage
Kuwait-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 9/23/1997
Kuwait's ambassador to Saudi Arabia said that the Kuwaiti-Saudi technical committee would meet by the end of October to discuss the final details of border demarcation between the two states.
The Kuwaiti ambassador to Saudi Arabia said that the committee was proceeding according to the instructions of the leaders in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, who he said were keen on promoting bilateral relations.
In this regard the Kuwaiti ambassador underlined the strength of Saudi-Kuwaiti relations, which he said were "historic and distinguished."
He said the visits exchanged between Saudi and Kuwaiti officials reflected the keenness of both leaderships to promote relations.
The Kuwaiti diplomat denied the presence of any obstacle delaying the work of the committee and stressed that the long time taken was due to geographic, climate and technical reasons.
A Saudi-Kuwaiti foreign ministers meeting would take place after the committee concludes its work, he said.
In November 1995, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement with a specialized Swedish company to conduct a topographic scanning of land and sea borders ahead of their demarcation.
