Lebanon: important role for Egypt in Middle East peace

A chief Lebanese official yesterday said that continued Egyptian-Syrian coordination was crucial for maintaining the basics of the Middle East peace process.
Lebanese Foreign Minister Fares Boueiz told Egyptian reporters that Egypt is effective in communicating to Israel and the US what the Arabs can accept in the peace process, Al Ahrar daily reported today.
He also added, "Egypt has neither fooled the US nor Israel when it constantly warned that the Israeli formula of peace was not the genuine one sought to resolve the Arab-Israeli dispute."
