Increased vigilance urged
Iraq, Politics, 9/19/1997
An Iraqi opposition group on September 18 said that it urged Unscom to maintain the strongest possible pressure on the Iraqi regime to comply with UN Security Council resolutions for dismantling weapons of mass destruction.
In a letter to Unscom executive chairman Ambassador Richard Butler, the president of the Iraqi National Congress' executive council, Ahmad Chalabi, emphasized the need that Baghdad must not be allowed to use its latest disclosure to the UN as a propaganda tool.
The Iraqi National Congress urged Unscom to remain vigilant about Saddam Hussien's continuing efforts to develop delivery systems for his weapons of mass destruction.
