Abdel Meguid meets with Bahraini prime minister
Bahrain, Politics, 9/18/1997
Arab League Secretary General Dr. Esmat Abdel Meguid received Bahrain's Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa and his accompanying delegation, which includes Bahrain's Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the Minster of Information Mohamed Ibrahim Al Mutawa'a and other high-ranking officials.
Meguid stated after the meeting that this visit is historic, especially since the last visit paid by Bahrain's prime minister to the Arab League was in 1971, asserting that Bahrain has a pioneering role in the joint Arab work and decisions. He stated that the meeting was a good chance to discuss the subjects that will be tackled by the Arab League Council next Saturday.
Abdel Meguid mentioned that the meetings dealt with current developments in the peace process and everything related to the joint Arab work. "We talked about the importance of the joint Arab work," Abdel Meguid said.
Sheikh Khalifa arrived in Cairo yesterday for a two-day visit during which he will co-chair a meeting of the Bahraini-joint higher commission with his Egyptian counterpart Dr. Kamal Ganzouri.
Sheikh Khalifa is also expected to meet with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
During the visit, it is expected that several agreements will be signed to boost economic investment and trade cooperation between the two countries, Al Ahrar daily said today.
