Contacts about Albright's visit still going on
Regional, Politics, 9/18/1997

Lebanese and Arab leaders are still making contacts to discuss the results of American Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's visit to the Middle East and especially to Lebanon and Syria.

Prime Minister Rafik Hariri met yesterday with the American ambassador in Lebanon, Richard Jones, who said that Lebanon can establish peace only through negotiation. Their discussions also concerned the preparations for the future talks that are going to take place at Washington by the end of the current month. Some sources denied a rumor that contends Prime Minister Rafik Hariri will guide the delegation that will be sent to the United States.

Syrian President Hafez Assad is going today to Alexandria to have talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak about the peace process and the impact of Albright's visit on it.
