Iran: Establishing relations with US does not contradict principles of the revolution

New Iranian Prime Minister Dr. Kamal Kherazi declared that establishing normal relations with the USA does not contradict with the basic principles of the Iranian Islamic Revolution.

He stated that his country has relations with all the countries of the world except Israel, clarifying that it is depending on the USA to solve the problems between the two countries. He added that he and the government of President Sayed Mohammed Khatami have new programs in their foreign policies asserting that it is the methods and tactics of the work that change, but the basics of this policy do not change. He stated that his country tries to decrease the tension in the region and to increase understanding between the different countries. His country's relations with the Gulf countries are the top priority of the Iranian policy.

Regarding the Iranian problem with the UAE because of the three islands, Kherazi asserted that his government is ready to hold talks with its friends in the UAE to solve it. He also called on Turkey to exchange ambassadors with Iran.
