Egypt: No nuclear power stations set up by private sector
Egypt, Economics, 9/17/1997
The Minister of Energy and Electricity Engineer Maher Abaza stated that no nuclear power stations will be set up by the private sector.
He elaborated that these stations need severe inspection and great technical capabilities in order to avoid negative effects. He added that these projects have to do with the sovereignty of the country and should be financed by the public sector in all countries.
He declared that those who request giving the private sector a chance to work in this field do not know the system in the international market.
Abaza pointed out that Egypt allowed the private sector to participate in specialized gas and electricity projects and gave it the right to possess, run, and manage these projects.
