Syrian President Hafez Al Assad will pay an official visit to Cairo tomorrow to meet with President Mubarak, the Egyptian Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister Amr Moussa and top Egyptian officials.
The Syrian Ambassador to Egypt Dr. Eissa Darwish stated that this visit comes at a time when Egypt and Syria make important contacts with the countries of the region and the world to clarify the Arab stances toward the peace process and the situation in the region.
He asserted that Egypt and Syria are two important countries in the Middle East whose roles in the peace process and in any other issue can not be ignored.
The visit will address the US Secretary of State's visit to the region, the developments of the peace process, the Arab stance toward the Middle East-North Africa Summit in Doha, together with the bilateral relations.
Lebanese president Elias Hrawi received a telephone call from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on the results of US Secretary of State Madeline Albright's recent Middle East tour and the latest developments in the stalled regional peace drive, Al Ahrar daily said today.
