Arab League secretary general meets US ambassador to Egypt
Regional, Politics, 9/16/1997

The Secretary General of the Arab League Dr. Esmat Abdel Meguid received today the US Ambassador to Egypt, Edward Walker. After the meeting, the US Ambassador said that they discussed the issue of the MENA Summit due to be held in Doha in November, but he declined to give more details about the details of the meeting.

He added that it is too early to speak about the results of the US Secretary of State's visit to the region and about the expectations of the US administration in the future. He expressed his hope and optimism that the peace process will move forward, confirming that the US administration has a solid ground for its movements.

Walker declined to comment on Israel's continuation of building settlements.

He also told reporters that he informed the Secretary General about the reforms needed to fix the financial status of the Security Council.
