Palestine's Nabil Shaath to visit Gulf States
Palestine, Politics, 9/16/1997

Palestinian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nabil Shaath said he will shortly embark on a tour of three Gulf states, namely Saudi Arabia, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

In a statement aired over radio voice of Palestine in the Jordanian capital Amman, Shaath underlined the important role of the Arab Gulf States as far as the Middle East situation is concerned and described such role as active and supportive to the just cause of the Palestinian people noting that the Gulf countries are also able to bring pressure on Israel.

Dr. Shaath also highlighted the significance of the European role in addition to the American one, for salvaging the stalled Mideast peace process, noting that his recent European tour has reflected the strong European support to the Palestinian people.
He attributed Washington¹s failure to pressure Israel to reverse its suppressive and aggressive policies in the occupied Palestinian territories to the Zionist lobby penetrating throughout the American institutions including the U. S. Congress.
