Israel bans Islamic call to prayer
Palestine, Religion, 9/16/1997
The Israeli army has decided to ban the dawn Islamic call to prayer in the West Bank town of Jerusalem on the Jewish Sabbath.
Many Islamic authorities around the world were astonished by this decision and were quick to condemn it. Sheikh Tantawi of Azhar University in Cairo said, "Nobody can ban the calling to prayer any where or any time."
