Netanyahu against peace
Syria, Politics, 9/16/1997
Leader of the Arab Democratic Party and Knesset member, Abdul Wahal Darawsheh, said Israel's Netanyahu attacked the recent visit of the Isreali Arabs to Damascus because the Likud chief wanted to avoid the peace message voiced by Syrian President Hafez Assad which says that peace is Syria's strategic option.
In an interview with the Jordanian Al Dastour daily published in Amman on September 15, Darawsheh said Syria wants to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on implementation of international legitimacy resolutions and Madrid's terms of reference.
The Arab party leader, currently visiting Amman, also said Netanyahu does not want peace and is adamant on refusing it and antagonizing the Arab nation.
