Syria-Algeria summit

Syrian President Hafez Assad and Algerian President Lamine Zeroual resumed talks in a closed door meeting held at al Shaab palace in Damascus. Talks dealt with the situation in the Arab region in general, the conditions of the Middle East peace process and conditions in the Arab countries in North Africa.
Talks also dealt with bilateral issues of common interest to Syria and Algeria and related to the consolidation of relations between the two countries.
The talks took place in Damascus as part of a three day visit to Syria by Zeroual.
