Netanyahu's criticism for Azam sentence
Egypt, Local, 9/12/1997
The Professors of International Law welcomed President Mubarak's refusal to receive a letter sent to the Israeli spy Azam Azam from the Israeli Prime Minister. The professors condemned Netanyahu's statements regarding the sentence of Azam Azam by saying that Netanyahu exceeded all limits by criticizing the sentence as he ignored the protocol followed by all prime ministers in their international relations.
They described Netanyahu's position as a weird deviation from the simplest codes of etiquette and international protocols, which worsens the tension in the region after Israel thwarted the peace process. They considered the Israeli act an unacceptable intervention into Egyptian internal affairs for what is considered a serious violation of the principles of the General International Law.
