7% growth rate in Tunisia last year
Tunisia, Economics, 9/11/1997
An economic official source stated that the Tunisian economy achieved a progress of 7% last year. This growth was a result of the strong performance of the agricultural sector and the improvements in the revenue from the tourist sector. This progress helped in decreasing the deficit of the trade balance from 10% in 1995 to 3.8% last year, in addition to achieving a surplus in the balance of payment estimated at $270 million compared to 17% deficit last year.
