Gulf Cooperation Council cancer registration panel meets
Gulf Region, Medicine, 9/11/1997
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) committee for cancer registration in the Arab Gulf States held a meeting on September 9 to map out a strategy to check the spread of cancer in the council's states, the Gulf News agency reported.
It quoted Doctor Ibrahim Yacqob, advisor of Arab and international affairs for the Bahraini Health minister, as saying that gathering of accurate data about the existence of the disease in the GCC countries was a necessity.
Yacoob asserted the importance of working out a joint GCC program, backed with an accurate data bank, to fight the deadly disease.
He voiced hope that the meeting would end with recommendations aimed at containing the spread of the disease for the sake of safeguarding the well-being of GCC nationals and residents.
