Minister says Syria will spare no effort for peace
Syria, Politics, 9/11/1997
Syrian Minister of Information Dr. Mohammed Salman, speaking to teachers participating in an information course organized by the teachers union's executive bureau, reviewed the developments in the peace process since the Madrid conference, stating that peace, not security, is the lever that halts the state of collapse.
He stressed that Syria's adoption of peace as a strategic choice means that Syria won't sell out one inch of the Golan or compromise on it.
About US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's visit to the region, he said that Syria will spare no effort to have the peace process return to its realistic path, and to force Israel withdraw to the June 4th, 1976 border line.
Madrid conference terms of reference are the framework on the basis of which all contacts are to be made or to resume negotiations from the point they had stopped at.
