Iraq invites Lebanese minister to Baghdad exhibition
Iraq-Lebanon, Economics, 9/10/1997
Iraq sent an invitation to Lebanese Minister of Industry Nadim Salem to attend the opening of a Lebanese industrial exhibition in Baghdad next month. The invitation came from the head of the Iraqi delegation taking part in a conference of the union of Arab agricultural engineers, Mohammed Hiali.
Hiali and Salem met to discuss bilateral economic relations between the two countries, which the Iraqi engineer said are important, "especially since the Iraqi market is considered a natural market for Lebanese industrial products."
Hiali predicted a good turnout for the exhibition. "The Iraqi people regard Lebanese industry in a special way, especially since they have become used to Lebanese products," he said. Salem said that he would do his best to encourage Lebanese industrialists to take part in the exhibition, which starts October 6.
The delegation also met with Agriculture Ministry Director-General Adel Choueiri, and discussed bilateral relations in the sector.
Hiali is scheduled to meet on September 10 with Economy Minister Yassin Jaber and tour the association of Lebanese Industrialists and the Beirut chamber of commerce.
