Beirut could be in for a serious earthquake

Some Lebanese sources announced that they were informed by Reuters that a major earthquake could be about to shake Beirut, which is known to be on one of the most unstable fault lines, the same on which Italy, Greece and Cyprus are located.

Lebanese people fear the worst, for many of them have witnessed the disasters caused by the earthquake of March 1956. Moreover, people are still anxious because they were told that the earthquakes that occurred last winter announced a much more serious one, that could happen at any moment, according to the studies done by the seismology center at Strasbourg in France.

Some are calling for strickter building code as Lebanon goes about its massive reconstruction efforts to avoid a major disaster.
