Ministry urges overstayers to leave
Saudi Arabia, Economics, 9/9/1997

A source at the Saudi Ministry of Interior has urged all overstayers and those who work with employers other than their sponsors in a violation of the residence rules to leave the country soon, making use of the amnesty granted by the government.

The departure of such people will be facilitated during the amnesty period, the statement said.

Those who do not abide by these rules will be punished with imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, or a fine of not less than 10,000 Saudi Riyals and not more than 100,000 Saudi Riyals, or both.

The punishment will be doubled in accordance with the number of persons in whose cases the violation takes place.
