Saudi Arabia to almost double desalinated water supply
Saudi Arabia, Local, 9/9/1997
Saudi Arabia officials announced yesterday the amount of desalinated water should increase from the current 520 million gallons per-day to 800 million gallons next year.
The Saline Water Conversion Cropıs director, Fahd bin Abdul-Rahman, said desalinated water production in Saudi Arabia was expected to reach desired levels as new projects come online. No further details were given.
Saudi Arabia and its 18-million citizens depend basically on scarce rainfall, non-renewable underground water, and desalination. It has 23 desalination plants.
