Libyan ties with Egypt promoted
Libya-Egypt, Economics, 9/9/1997
In an attempt to further promote ties between Egypt and Libya, the joint Egyptian-Libyan economic committee will hold a meeting by October, the Egyptian Gazette said today.
The committee is expected to discuss the implementation of recommendations taken previously by the Higher Commission headed by presidents Mubarak and Gaddafi.
Ahmed Wahdan, the Libyan ambassador, said the committee would review means of setting up a free trade zone and eliminating any obstacles in the way of mutual trade; these measures aim at the two countries' economic integration, and they would lead to pan Arab integration, said the daily.
Increasing investments, especially in medical supplies, textiles, iron products, car industry and the ready-to-wear clothes were targeted.
