38 parties in Algerian local elections and many independent candidates

The number of parties participating in the local elections that will be held on October 23 reached 38 out of 41 parties that participated in the legislative election held last June.

The election witnesses abundance in the number of the independent candidates. The National Democratic Gathering is the biggest, as its list of candidates covers 48 provinces. There is great competition between the National Liberation Front and the Peaceful Society Movement.

The minister of justice appointed 843 judges to monitor the election under the supervision of the Independent National Committee, the minister of interior offered 6,000 administrative assistants to work in the election process, and the Algerian government allocated 4 million dinars for election expenses.
