Serb companies set up projects in Jordan
Jordan, Economics, 9/6/1997
A group of Serb companies will implement the Al Mogib Dam project south of Jordan with a cost of $55 million, which will hold up to 40 million cubic meters of water. By virtue of the initial agreement, Jordan will contribute $25 million while the government of Belgrade will finance 54.4 % of the total cost of the project.
Sources close to the Jordanian irrigation minister, who will visit Belgrade to finalize the agreement, said that the agreement will help repay Yugoslavian debts to Jordan which accumulated as a result of Yugoslavia's importing phosphate and its inability to pay Jordan back because of the war.
The dam will provide drinking and irrigation water to the South and will also store rain water.
