An Archaeological Site in Sinai
Egypt, History, 9/5/1997

In October Egyptian Minister of Culture Farouq Hosni will inaugurate Sinai Archaeological Center in Eastern Qantara. It is a unique center as Egypt establishes it to train archaeologists for excavation works according to the most advanced technologies.

The center will include a miniature museum that will exhibit some of the pieces discovered lately and pottery pieces which Israel seized during the 1967 war.

The director of archaeological sites in Sinai, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Maksoud, says that the pieces chosen to be exhibited in the museum represent all the stages of pottery work in Egypt and how it is affected by pottery imported from abroad. He added that the museum has a garden of 800 meters, a hall that will be used by students, 2 other smaller halls, a library, and a laboratory. The museum will also contain an archive containing 5,000 colorful slides of the archaeological sites in Egypt, a hall to print and photocopy the scientific reports.
