Four Jordanians arrested for circulating Kuwaiti notes
Jordan, Local, 9/5/1997
Four Jordanians have been arrested in Amman for circulating Kuwaiti notes of 10 KD denomination that are no longer legal tender, security sources were quoted by local newspapers as saying on September 4.
The gang conned doctors, pharmacist and grocers in eastern and western Amman who later discovered that the money was of old, illegal notes when they went to exchange them for local currency, the newspapers reported.
The gangs exchanged each 10 KD for 23 Jordanian Dinars.
One Jordanian Dinar equals around 0.431 KD. The Kuwaiti government canceled the old currency notes after Iraqi occupiers stole enormous amounts of money during the invasion.
